   With a warm climate and beautiful beaches of the Caribbean region is one of the main resort areas of the world. The rich marine life attracts divers, except the natural beauty of a region rich in cultural monuments of pre-Columbian civilizations and the colonial era. The tourism industry is an important component of the economies of the Caribbean region, serving mostly to travelers from the United States, Canada, Brazil and Argentina. Air traffic between North America and the Caribbean are better developed than in the region. According to the Caribbean Tourism Organization in 2007, the region was visited by 22.7 million tourists and 19.2 million people participated in the cruise tours. The most popular destinations include the Dominican Republic, Cuba, Mexico (Cancun, Riviera Maya), Jamaica, Bahamas and Puerto Rico.

   According to 2004, the total number of jobs in tourism and related activities on the island of the Caribbean region amounted to more than 2.4 million people (15,5%, twice the world average), while the contribution of tourism to GDP in the region - 28,4 billion dollars (13%). The total value of exported goods and services amounted to 19 bn (16%), 21,7% of all capital investments fell on tourism (more than twice the average).
